Gas training courses Southend-on-Sea – the local area

Southend-on-Sea is a coastal City on the north side of the Thames Estuary. Located 40 miles from London, it is home to Southend Pier, the longest pleasure pier in the world.

Originally consisting of a few fishermen’s huts and farms on the edge of the village of Prittlewell, Southend-on-Sea started to grow in the 1790s with the completion of The Grand Hotel and Grove Terrace, which enabled stagecoaches from London to access the area.

With the coming of the railways in the 19^th Century, the settlement continued to expand and Southend was granted City status on 26^th January 2022.
