Here's some FAQs relating to Gas Training & Assessment
and the courses we run...


  • How big are the classes?

    We have small class numbers for all courses run at GTA 

  • Are your premises air conditioned?

    Our centre is fully air conditioned to allow concentration throughout our summer.

  • Are refreshments provided?

    Yes. Complimentary tea and coffee are available throughout the day, fridges and microwaves are available for your use and snack wagons visit the site regularly throughout the day

  • What is the availability of courses?

    We run gas courses every week. Other courses for new entrants, water, electric, etc are ran as and when required depending on demand. It is best to contact us for the next date available.

  • Do I need to bring all of my safety boots and overalls?

    No the practical tasks do not require you to wear PPE unless you feel happier in your working cloths.  We are in a classroom environment so we would expect you to be wearing shoes, full length trousers and a tee/polo shirt as a typical example.

  • Can I use my phone in the centre?

    Of course you can bring your phone into our centre.  However we always ask that it is set to silent during training sessions. You will have plenty of time during breaks and lunch to catch up on your calls outside.  No electronic communication devices (phones/tablets) are allowed in the assessment area but again you can catch up on calls during breaks.

  • What times are courses available?

    We are open for training 50 weeks per year, all courses are run within the working week Monday- Friday. Please see our training course timetable

  • What are the opening hours of the centre?

    Our centre is open Monday to Friday 0800 – 1630 (excluding Bank Holidays).  Courses start at 0830 prompt and finish around 1615 depending on the requirements of the course.

  • What Qualifications will I end up with?

    For Gas a successful candidate will achieve an ACS certificate which is accepted by the Gas Safe register, once you have registered you will be able to work in the Gas industry.


    For non Gas schemes the qualifications will be accepted by the various competent persons schemes.

  • Can I work on Gas as soon as I complete the Course?

    Not Immediately, to work on Gas you must be registered with Gas Safe, you can either join as an individual, or your employer can register you as part of their company Gas safe number, you will be able to register as soon as you receive your certificate, this can take up to 10 working days.

  • What do I need to Bring with me?

    You will be sent joining instructions for the specific course that you have applied for, this will include a list of everything you need to bring with you plus a map of how to find us.


    Most courses you will need to provide 2 passport style photographs, a  copy of your photo ID (Passport or Driving Licence) and a copy of any relevant pre-existing certificates if applicable.
