Do you require Carbon Monoxide/Dioxide atmosphere and appliance testing certification

Dave Lambert • Jun 11, 2014

We now offer the Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS) assessment CMDDA1

As of now, we will be offering the Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS) assessment CMDDA1 which has been recently introduced to evaluate the competence of gas engineers to carry out carbon monoxide/dioxide atmosphere testing.

This certification covers those engineers who wish to investigate a report of smells for fumes within domestic properties. Although it is not a compulsory requirement, the certification will provide evidence of competence when an engineer is called to a multitude of situations including a CO alarm activation , a report of fumes and a follow up visit from the emergency services when an installation has been declared a concern for safety.

The CMDDA1 certification is designed to test the competence of a gas engineer in being able to determine levels of monoxide and the presence of CO2 – in a dwelling as well as identifying the source of the fumes with a portable electronic combustion analyser. The certification does not extend to commercial properties but will aid Local Authorities and subcontractors responding to calls from their tenants.

The course, which involves one day of training and one of assessment, is open to any engineer who has already successfully completed CCN1 and CPA1 and who wants to extend their scope by specialising in carbon monoxide/dioxide atmosphere and appliance testing.

The course will include practical assessment and theory and will cover a range of areas including recording processes when a call is received for assistance, the equipment necessary for the investigation as well as the procedures for carrying out safety checks following an electrical alarm activation.

Our course tutors have all undertaken the necessary training and assessment to deliver the module and we have already welcomed our first students this month for CMDDA1. If you would like to book a place, please call us on 01268 912297.
