Can a private landlord or property developer become gas trained?

Can a private landlord or property developer become gas trained?

While most people who apply for a gas training course are looking to make a career out of the industry, some are merely looking to enhance their skills base so they can offer a broader range of services. This is especially true of plumbers who like to gain gas qualifications to enable them to take on a larger variety of work. It is increasingly becoming a favourable option for some property developers and private landlords who are frustrated at paying somebody else to perform their gas work which increases their costs and profit margins.

At Gas Training and Assessment, we welcome people from all backgrounds including those who are just starting out in the domestic gas industry, those who have a good amount of experience and want to add some strings to their bows to other professionals in the construction or plumbing sector who are eager to be able to take responsibility for their gas work. Our early stipulation is that such trainees meet the criteria for booking on to their chosen course (such as proven pipework skills) and have the opportunity to develop their knowledge and practical learning under the guidance of a qualified engineer.

If you’re a property developer or private landlord and have minimal hands-on experience with pipework, then Gas Training and Assessment recommends its 14-week course involving one training day per week which will conclude in week 15 with the CCN1 core gas safety assessment, Cenwat and CPA 1 (combustion performance analyser). If the student is successful in this course, they will be able to apply for formal Gas Safety Registration which effectively means they are legally entitled to work on the gas appliances.

For landlords and property developers who have more in-depth knowledge and considerable practical experience working with gas under a qualified engineer, a fast track course is available which can be completed within five days including assessment time.

Gas Training has helped hundreds of students to gain industry-recognised qualifications in gas work and offers a broad range of appliance assessments for those who wish to specialise in a particular area. Gas registration is an ideal route for property developers or landlords who are considering making property construction/management their full-time occupation and will help them to make sizeable costs savings which will ultimately boost profit margins.
